During World War 2, the Nazi regime in Germany perfected the art of propaganda. They started with an agenda of what the government wanted and then set out to brainwash the populace into going along with the dastardly action.
Lets analyze that for a moment. First they had an evil agenda. We now know that their secret agenda was one of hatred and world conquest.
Then they used propaganda. Propaganda was as subject I was taught in a logic class at the University I attended. It was not a “how to do it” course but rather an expose of the technique. What was done with the Nazi evil agenda was that it was sold with lies using very powerful propaganda techniques.
There are now evil agendas in this country and throughout the world. I do not say they are evil because they are different from my beliefs but because those agendas are clearly defined in Holy Scripture as being against God and against nature and against mankind.
These agendas are being sold to the population with the same lies and propaganda techniques that Nazi Germany used. The goal is to advance the agenda through any means possible with absolutely no restrictions whatsoever.
I heard the term “create consensus” while hearing a public official describe how policies are to be sold to the public. I immediately saw, as if by revelation, that the government now is deciding behind closed doors just what the policy is to be on various matters and then is willing to use a “propaganda machine” in order to sell their policy to the public with the cloak of decency called “consensus”.
When you create consensus, you don’t just see what people believe, but you manipulate the people to “come up with” your predetermined agenda.
The use of the phrase, “create Christian consensus”, describes exactly what is intended to happen. The word, “create”, means the establishment in the public mind the agenda for action. The word, “Christian”, means the policies and outlook that Jesus stood for when He was in this world, namely the basis of the Judeo Christian heritage. The word, “consensus”, means that the end result is that the populace will have the opinion that the agenda is what they believe and stand for.
Jesus said: “Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. ” [Matthew 10:16]
The agenda that is suggested to be promoted is not evil but good. The method of promotion is not lies but truth. What is laid out, therefore is the classic battle between good and evil.
Christian values were accepted without question up to about fifty years ago. About the time a simple majority of the seven Supreme Court judges decided reading a Psalm in public school was bad along with the reciting of the Lord’s Prayer.
Since then it has been the proverbial “slippery slope” to godlessness and a complete repudiation of our Judeo Christian heritage.
It is high time we Christians unite to reverse course.

Most of us given a choice would like to be well thought of and spoken well of for our life and beliefs rather than to be reviled, criticized, and despised. This is natural and easily understood but there is danger that this natural desire lead us into sin. When one gets to the point where he cares more about what people think than what God thinks and what God commands he is in trouble, in trouble with the Lord and Savior.
In studying the subject of why faith fails we find an account of a group of men who had this very problem – the desire for the praise of men.
“Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. ” (John 12:42-43, NKJV)
Sometimes we want to please men too much. While it is good and proper to want to have a good reputation among men and be well spoken of it is but folly to sell one’s soul for it. Paul says (Gal. 1:10, NKJV), “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a servant of Christ. ” Man’s duty in life is not to seek to please men but rather to please God, his creator. We live for God, not man.
We have been purchased with the blood of Christ (Acts 20:28, Eph. 1:13-14). We have been bought by him and we are his, he owns us, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. ” (1 Cor. 6:20, NKJV) We are the sons, the children of God (1 John 3:2), “his own special people” (1 Peter 2:9, NKJV).
The praise of men is vain. It cannot keep the sorrow out of our heart when death strikes our families, it cannot keep the pain away that hits us in the pit of the stomach when a son or daughter goes wrong or becomes alienated, it cannot keep us from growing old and feeble, it cannot take our place at the grave. In the really important things of life it is but vain.
Those whose praise we so often seek are those whom we see as being more important or powerful or influential than ourselves. We seldom seem concerned with being praised by the poor man or one whose circumstances are humble. We do not care about the opinion of the man with the eighth grade education, or the janitor, the trash man, or the cleaning lady. We are arrogant. We are only interested in what you think about us if you are one whom we deem better than others. At a very minimum you must be one of our peers, as we see it, before we are interested in your praise.
This attitude itself is sin. All men stand equal before God. We are to show partiality to none. James speaks of this in James 2:1-6 (NKJV), “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, ‘You sit here in a good place, ‘ and say to the poor man, ‘You stand there, ‘ or, ‘Sit here at my footstool, ‘ have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man. “
Peter tells us (1 Peter 2:17, KJV) “honor all men” or as the ESV states it “honor everyone”. With God one man is as good as another and we are to be that way as well, followers of him. Indeed of those who are more powerful and influential God has said, “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. ” (1 Cor. 1:26, NKJV) The words “are called” are supplied words to complete the thought. All men are called by the gospel but the meaning is that not many of this class of people, the wise, the mighty, the noble, will respond to God’s call. And, yet, this is the class of people whose praise we so often desire.
If we will be faithful and obedient we will in due time receive honor, honor from God. Paul tells us God will mete out tribulation and distress to every soul of man who does evil “but glory and honor and peace to every man who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. ” (Rom. 2:10, NAS) Glory and honor from God in the last day. This is the praise we need to seek. It is an honor that will not die with men nor fade away with time but will be eternal.
We learn from the rulers who loved the praise of men more than the praise of God that truth by itself is not always the determining factor in the way men live and conduct themselves even when they know the truth and are not deceived. A man can know the truth as did these men, as did the rich young ruler, as did Demas and yet it does not make enough difference to them to get them to alter their lives and bring them into accord with the truth.
The second sin ever committed was of this very nature. Paul says of Adam that he “was not deceived” (1 Tim. 2:14). Adam knew the truth; Adam believed the truth; and Adam willfully disobeyed the truth. Temptation was to him greater than the truth he knew and greater than his faith and love for God.
There was a time in my life when I had the idea, before I learned better, that I thought just teach a man the truth so he will see it and know it and he will most certainly obey it. WRONG! The examples of men here already mentioned provide the proof.
There are things that motivate men over and above truth. Adam’s desire and love for his wife, a desire to please her, won out over truth. The rulers who believed in Jesus but would not confess him found that the praise of men was more important, a greater motivating factor, than truth. While it is easy to be very critical of them honesty of heart would compel most of us to admit similar guilt in our own lives on occasion. We have held our peace when we should have spoken up for the desire to be well thought of among those whom we were with at the time was greater than our desire to take a stand for Christ and the truth. Is there any who are not guilty or have not been guilty?
The word “fear” is not mentioned in reading about the rulers who believed in Jesus but would not confess him. It was there nonetheless. The fear of being put out of the synagogue, the fear of bringing down the displeasure of man, of no longer being spoken well of, of being ostracized was foremost in their mind. As it was with them so it often is with us when we refuse to speak out. We desire the praise of men and to be well thought of more than we desire the praise of God and yet we know that this praise is only for a time, transient.
In the sermon on the mount Jesus warned us all when he said, “Woe to you when all men speak well of you. ” (Luke 6:26, NKJV) A man who has not incurred the disfavor of at least some is a man who has never taken a stand. Jesus says the blessed man is not the one all speak well of but rather “blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. ” (Matt. 5:11, NKJV)
Paul told Timothy, (2 Tim. 3:12, NKJV), “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. ” If a man is being persecuted he is not being praised by all men. Yet, we find in looking at the qualifications for elders that a man “must have a good testimony among those who are outside. ” (1 Tim. 3:7, NKJV) How do we deal then with what appears to be a contradiction?
That can be answered by considering who the persecutors of Christians will be. If you are an honest person who works hard most people will honor that. The ordinary person who is fair appreciates the good others may do. If you are helping the poor, the homeless, the orphans, the elderly, about everyone will consider those things to be good works and be pleased to see you working at that. These are the things the Bible teaches that Christians ought to be doing. < /p>
In the book of Ephesians, (Eph. 2:10, NKJV), Christians are said to be God’s “workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. ” Peter says, (1 Peter 2:12, NKJV), that we are to have our “conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. “
Those who speak evil of the faithful Christian usually do it on the basis of their disdain for Christianity itself. They do not want to be brought under the control of Jesus’ teaching. They do not want to be seen as sinners and so scoff at the Bible and are willing to persecute vocally those who believe and uphold its teachings. They love their sinful lifestyles and resent any teaching that would imply they are in error or cast them in a bad light. In America they want a secular society where God is cast out.
In the religious community Christians are persecuted both by those of other religions such as the Islamic religion and by those who claim to be Christians but want the Bible to be interpreted in such a way as to allow them to live and do pretty much as they please. To this group the Bible does not actually mean what it literally says but each succeeding generation can fit it into the changing culture as it so desires and feels the need for. It was never meant to be taken literally is their idea.
Thus those who speak evil of the Christian usually do so for religious reasons for even atheism is a form of religion. In New Testament times the pagans had their idols and the Romans their emperor worship. I believe Paul in talking about the qualifications for an elder when he says he must have a good report from those on the outside was speaking about the man’s honesty, his good works, etc. . No man can live a faithful Christian life and have all men speaking well of him continuously as it pertains to his religious beliefs and practices. Jesus did not, Paul did not. The Bible does not contradict itself.
When a man wants the praise of men above the praise of God there is no end of the concessions he is willing to make. He will concede eternal life itself as did the rulers who are the subject of this article (John 12:42-43). He most certainly will concede on doctrinal matters. Is it not true that the desire for the praise of men is behind much of the extremely liberal views of the Bible? The New Testament is clear in its teaching on subjects such as baptism, the role of women, homosexuality and yet it makes but little difference to many. We must be politically correct and pleasing to the culture of the time. To teach against things such as homosexuality is considered hate speech.
How do we overcome the tendency we all have to want to be well thought of and liked by all? We need to measure the cost. What is the cost of seeking the praise of men over the cost of seeking the praise of God? Which pays better? Which pays longer? Which brings greater honor and glory? Each must make a decision. Our heart will lead us to choose one way or the other. The choice is one of free will. What will you decide?
In the words of Joshua, “choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve”. (Joshua 24:15)

At one glance, we are sometimes to quick to judge a person by their appearance, be it their clothing, hair style, body language attitude or the lack of these personality traits. The world today is still changing. New fads are wreaking havoc of our customs based on the way things used to be. The young people would call us baby boomers “old School. ” Still there are choices that we make that are based on our young years as baby boomers.
I can often size up a person with a word being said. Most of my intuitions are correct. My daughter finally understood why she could not were certain clothes. If you dress this way this is how people will perceive you and approach you. In the same light if you see a policeman in uniform he will be approached as a respectable peace officer.
Who made you the judge? We could not survive in this world if we did not judge the decisions in our lives. We judge what to eat what to wear, where to live, what cars to drive, the list is endless. The problem arises when we opt to judge someone and their choices that they make in life. We never consider that my choice of shoes that I wore today was the only choice that I may have had.
The majority of the judges in our court systems today strive to be fair and impartial based on local state and federal laws. Having the book thrown at you proves that the judge has done his research and you penalty for breaking the law should not be personal.
I told a friend that President Bush was a great man. This is my judgment/opinion of our world leader. I also spoke to a man who’s’ son was killed in war. He bent my ear and told me where to put my opinion.
What about the more-ways and folkways that we were taught in school? Passing judgment is something that we do even in our dreams. However our judgment should be righteous and not based on self gain, recognition or impartiality.
We often see judges at the Olympics, at football games, in boxing rings, on tennis courts and of course the court system. The Supreme Court usually hands down laws that American citizens are to live by. Moral integrity and doing the right thing should be a normal way of life.
There is an ongoing squabble with the Democrats and the Republicans, Our President the House and the Senate often debate on major issues. However self-made, Lawyers, Doctors Judges, friend and foe will judge you everyday. Even the very one that you love.
Whatever happened to love thy neighbor? A good friend will not judge you. A good friend listens to your conversation. The moral fabric of society continues to torn by the way things look. Today chances are we have no idea who lives next door.
Today it is hard to judge a person on appearance alone. It is best to get to know the person or their plight in life. The heart of man has many stories that are good and bad. How can I judge the splinter in your eye when I have a log in mine?
My final question, Is it right to judge? My answer to this question forced me to look within myself. The Bible says for us not to judge Look at Matthew 7:1, . But, should we judge people? Why not? The world that we live in has no idea of what peace is about. A righteous judgment can only be done by following What God has established in his word.
Matthew 25:14-31 (New King James Version)
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man travelling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them. ’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. ’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them. ’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. ’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours. ’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ’
We all have been given a measure of talents. We may go to church and listen to a man pray eloquently on the microphone and say to ourself that we could never pray like that. But the fact of the matter is that any prayer said from our heart to the heart of God with faith is as good as another. There are many good web sites that offer free prayer and you can write to the people who enquire and send them a prayer this would be using your prayer talent.
You may sit in church and see the lead vocalist in the worship team sing to the Lord, but in your own kitchen and bathroom while you do other things your voice can still make the Lord smile with pleasure and make him happy that on those days its your normal voice that comes from a glad heart that bring him joy. I have not the very best voice in the world and yet on a couple of occasions I have sang to the Lord in an audience as and offering to a church service and the people were very happy to clap. Both times I had no backing music, it’s was my normal voice, why even one time I sang in public and added a couple of my own stanzas of lyrics to the song and a man gave me a hug and had a tear in his eye as he told me my added lyrics really touched him.
In singing I have only one talent, and not the five talent or ten talent voice, yet when I sing I sing with all of my heart to the Lord. I do not perform for an audience I sing to my Jesus and I sing love songs and the songs that are special. I am not sure that many people are blessed and yet I know my Lord is happy with all I sing and He knows that sometimes it’s only singing a chorus that can bring joy into my life such are some of the lows of depression I fall into.
Have you a talent? Every person according to this parable has a talent. We need to invest it. When I was around thirty I read a book called “Please Understand Me” by David Kersley and it said that I had a certain temperament that said that I was a good communicator. In the list of occupations it said I would be good at, it had teacher, Pastor and writer. I have a little gift for writing and from those that have written to me from Ezine articles and feedback I have had I am told that my writing sort of draws you in. Investing your talents is writing to the best of your ability if you have been gifted with the gift of the gab like me.
When you are gifted in something it also can be a pleasure to use your gift and that is why writing puts me in a good mood. Just like writing, preaching makes me happy and I have had a few opportunities to do that in my life and I enjoyed that too. I also did about five talks on mental health last year and was able to communicate information on my illness effectively and make people laugh at the same time.
Are you a gifted sower? Can you share the gospel simply by knitting baby jumpers and having a tract put in with the jumper for poor African babies that need the gospel? Can you sow the gospel and sow for the gospel. When we give in love, people are more open to the God of love. One time I heard a Christian charity share that in Africa for every four dollars they spent on essential food supplies they had one person give their life to the Lord. They taught me that when you are giving something that is needed in love people are more open to the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Can you knit? Can you knit really nice jumpers for African parents so that they can dress up for church in winter? That way you can be knit together in love, in both the knitting in the jumper and the knitted love of your gesture. A lot of Africans can write English and perhaps you can write to them also and share your love with them through a letter. I have an African lady on my website that you can write to about this if you like.
You have many things that you can do. Can you type? Have you a gift for typing more then a speed of twenty five words a minute? There are many preachers I am sure that would love to have there sermons transcribed and presented in booklet format the next week to people who would love to read the sermon again, not as his notes outlined the sermon but how the Holy Spirit brought the rhema word out on the day. That is a talent you can use for the Lord.
Can you proofread? There are many writers that would love to write for this online article site like me that might not have good grammar and English and yet would have the courage to write on this Ezine site if someone would correct all their English mistakes. I am sure Ezine articles would send an email about to the Christian writers advertising your service. Why you could even write to me and help me!
You only have to think of your talents and it doesn’t take much work to apply how the kingdom of God would be better off with your talents invested. Money is often the last thing the Lord needs. People need to know the Lord and his desires and his heart and his heart is no better expressed in the talents parable the Jesus spoke above.
We need to use our talents.
Luke 18:18-23 (New King James Version) 18 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, ’ ‘Do not murder, ’ ‘Do not steal, ’ ‘Do not bear false witness, ’ ‘Honor your father and your mother. ’”[a] 21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth. ” 22 So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me. ” 23 But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.
Some would say a good use of our talents woul
d be to use our money for the poor of the world and for the Gospel to the poor countries. The rich young ruler would have been exceedingly blessed if he had of sold his wealth, given to the poor and followed Jesus for three years, and yet so many of us gloss over this as it does not apply to us.
But the whole Bible applies to us. And this is no exception. We should honour God with all that we have been given. We should look to the needs of the other countries and the poor in our city.
We might not have much money after bills and clothes and the like to rub together for ourself but we could spend one night a week cooking in a homeless shelter. We might not be able to do much but a poor inner city pastor could find something for us to do for him.
Do we really follow Jesus today? Most of us did not sell all our pearls that we own to purchase the pearl of great price which is Jesus as He showed in the parable. Most of us did not sell all we own to buy the field with the hidden treasure and that is why so many of our lives are so dry and empty and not flowing with the Holy Spirit as the hidden treasure isn’t being found by most people.
Many think a sinner’s prayer gets you into heaven but Jesus says on judgement day that His words will judge us. That’s not a once saved always saved sinner’s prayer that’s a life of following Jesus and His commands.

Does baptism matter? Most Americans have come to the conclusion that it does not, a person can be saved and go to heaven baptized or not. It is such a settled conviction with most that they are not willing to give the study of the topic the time of day. It is ridiculous to even consider it as they see it. Only the spiritually blinded, only the cult faction, could think otherwise from their point of view.
It seems to me this is taking the same attitude the Pharisees took back in the first century. They had their settled law and there was no point in thinking there was any possibility that they might be in error. When Jesus came along and started questioning some of their beliefs and practices there was nothing to do but crucify him for there was no possibility in their mind that they could be wrong in their religion. What he had to say had to be heresy.
A man ought to be cautious in reaching conclusions in spiritual matters for once this life is over and the next one has begun there is no going back a second time and getting it right. There are no second chances and eternity is a long, long time. I would like to look at baptism and want to start with an account that is often overlooked – the baptism of Jesus when John baptized him.
It is certainly true that the baptism of John differs from that which the Lord commanded in the great commission as given in Matthew 28 and Mark 16. If I was to be baptized with the baptism of John today it would not do me an ounce of good for its time has long since come and gone. Nevertheless, that was not the case when Jesus came to John to be baptized approximately 2,000 years ago.
Mark tells us (Mark 1:4 NKJV), John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. We know that Jesus never sinned and when Jesus comes to John to be baptized John is hesitant. In Matthew 3:14 we are told that, John tried to prevent Him, saying, ‘I have need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?’
Now note carefully how Jesus responds. But Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. ’ Then he allowed Him. (Matt. 3:15 NKJV)
Why was Jesus baptized? To fulfill all righteousness for that is what he says. What did he mean by that? The answer is found in Psalms 119:172, My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness. Jesus was baptized because it was the righteous thing to do for God had commanded it and all of God’s commandments are righteousness.
In Matt. 21 Jesus is being confronted by the chief priests and the elders who want to know by what authority he is doing the things he is doing. The Bible says, (Matt. 21:24-26 NKJV), Jesus answered and said to them, ‘I also will ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things: The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?’ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘If we say, ‘From heaven, ’ He will say to us ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ ‘But if we say, ‘From men, ’ we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet. ’
Jesus is saying John’s baptism has to be either from God or from man, which was it? Jesus believed (knew) it was from God and was baptized. The Pharisees did not believe it was from God and thus were not baptized. In Jesus’ case belief led to obedience, in the Pharisee’s case disbelief led to disobedience.
In Luke 7 Jesus has been talking about John the Baptist and the Bible says, beginning in verse 29, And when all the people heard Him (Jesus – DS), even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. (NKJV) This provides further proof that John’s baptism was from or of God.
The counsel of God was that men receive John’s message and be baptized. John’s message was that men repent and be baptized, a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
The Good News Bible translates Mark 1:4 as follows: So John appeared in the desert, baptizing and preaching. ‘Turn away from your sins and be baptized, ’ he told the people, ‘and God will forgive your sins. ’” This was the message of God for the people that was rejected by the Pharisees, lawyers, chief priests, and elders.
But, the Bible says even the tax collectors justified God, have been baptized with the baptism of John. (Luke 7:29 NKJV) What does it mean justified God, how is that done? The New American Standard translation of this verse clarifies it a lot. It reads, And when all the people and the tax-gatherers heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.
Part of John’s message was that there was to be wrath to come and the way of escape was to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. When men obeyed John’s preaching they were in affect saying by their actions that God was just in bringing this wrath upon them unless they did repent and obey and that it was just of him to demand their repentance and baptism.
Now what does all of this have to do with you and me today, with men and women in general? There is a direct application and an argument I think no one can reject save at their own peril.
Jesus asked the question where did John’s baptism come from, from God or man. Here is the question for you and me today, where did the baptism Jesus commanded come from, from God or man?
Why would it be wrong to reject John’s baptism in its time but right to reject Jesus’ baptism in our time? Jesus made it clear that to reject John’s baptism in its time was to reject the counsel of God against themselves. Are we not doing the same thing today, rejecting God’s counsel against ourselves, when we refuse to be baptized with Jesus’ baptism, the baptism of the great commission. If not why not?
One cannot reason his way out of this dilemma but it gets even worse for those who want to reject baptism. Please note it was a salvation issue with Jesus concerning John’s baptism. Are you going to say it is not a salvation issue today with Jesus’ baptism?
How much difference is there in the meaning of the words, a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins (Mark 1:4 NKJV) spoken concerning John’s baptism and the words repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38 NKJV) spoken concerning the baptism Jesus requires in our own time? The words sound very similar to me.
Am I saying that both baptisms were identical? No, but the difference lay not in the end to be achieved. John’s baptism ultimately would have done no good had Jesus not died on the cross. In that sense it looked forward and was a promise. We have this in our everyday lives all of the time. If I do this then I am promised that even though that may be down the road a ways. Paychecks are like that. We work trusting by faith the promise that we will be paid. This was John’s baptism.
Does this mean their actual forgiveness lay down the road somewhere in the future and was not immediate? No, for it was a certainty, not just a promise, that Jesus would die on the cross. The deed was as good as done the day it was first prophesied. When Moses and Elijah met Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration Jesus had not yet died on the cross. Was their salvation hanging in the balance until he did die? To ask is to answer. So it was with those who obeyed John’s teaching. Their sins were forgiven then and there or else John misled them for he said it was for the forgiveness of sins.
The baptism Jesus gave man by way of the great commission was based on the fact that Jesus had already died and shed his blood for the remission of sins and the salvation of man. Man has to believe the gospel, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:1-4). In shor
t, for a man to receive the baptism of Jesus he must believe in the historical Jesus, the Savior of the world.
If a man today refuses to obey the command to be baptized he refuses to do what Jesus said he was doing when he said, it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. (Matt. 3:15 NKJV) It has already been pointed out that all God’s commands are righteousness (Psalms 119:172). If we have a command to be baptized today, as far as I know all agree we do, should we not obey it and fulfill all righteousness? Why is it wrong to follow Jesus’ example?
Does Jesus’ baptism condemn you? It well could for when all is said and done you will either make camp with the Pharisees and other unbelievers who could not take God’s word at face value, believe and obey it, or you will camp with those who did believe and did obey. You will either reject the counsel of God against yourself refusing to be baptized or else you will accept it, believe and obey it. Make no mistake about it, for there are way too many passages that teach it, God has commanded baptism for you and me today thus it becomes a matter of either we will or we won’t. We will either accept his counsel or we will reject it.
I am sometimes taken aback by how people can just blow off baptism as being an insignificant thing unworthy of time or trouble. It is a reflection on God. Really is that not what Jesus was saying way back when – you don’t believe God? So many want to be saved by faith today apart from baptism and cannot see, as though blinded, that baptism is a part of faith, a part of the faith that saves. You are either going to believe God or you are not going to believe him when he speaks of baptism in his word. Why is it we can see this when Jesus addresses the subject of John’s baptism but cannot see the direct application to our own response in our time to Jesus’ baptism?
I doubt any of us can fully grasp the power that tradition exerts on us when it comes to how we see things and how we think. Add to that the influence of friends and family and the desire for it to be the way we want it to be often because of family. All that be as it may God’s word stands and so what are we going to do about it becomes the question. Many have answered I am not going to believe it as did the Pharisees. They did not believe it because they did not want to believe it. We pretty much end up believing what we want to believe instead of what we ought to believe.
I close this now just adding one final thought. The decision is yours.

Once you are reborn, or become saved, you come under the leadership of God, the Father. You become part of His family. . . and an heir. You now qualify for all that is His. According to Jesus, no one can legitimately enter, except through Him (Jesus).
He is the only way in. . . but, there are many who will try to call you out. They will try to get you to leave the family of God and you get you back into the world. Whether they’re friends of yours or not, Jesus calls them “strangers (John 10:5). “
There are also thieves who will try to “steal” you from the family of God.
Maybe you had those times when someone presented something that enticed you to “go for it. ” It looked and sounded good, it may have even appeared to be from God, but turned out to be a disaster in the end. Maybe the messenger spoke beautifully and seemed honest.
Remember how beautifully Satan spoke to Eve in the garden? He’s no different now than he was then. Satan is of the world, and he’s out to destroy you and everything that is God’s. As long as you’re in this world, which is his (2 Corinthians 4:4), he will not leave you alone until the day you finally enter heaven.
Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10 KJV). The word “might” in that Scripture is the deciding factor, and it’s your responsibility.
Accepting Jesus and becoming a part of the family of God is not a cure all to end all. It’s a decision to enter another realm of living, and it must be managed.
We need to manage our Christian walk by eliminating distraction. That’s really tough to do when we live in satan’s world. That’s why praying, reading the Bible, and attending church regularly is so important. We need fellowship with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Unfortunately, these days are becoming increasingly difficult to be around other believers. So many are enticed by the world and have become hypocritical. We need to have compassion for these struggling people, not harshness or hatred. Otherwise, we will be no different.
Again, once you are born again, or become saved, you become God’s. You become part of His family. You now qualify for all that is His. But, in order to access His abundance, you must manage your walk. 1 Corinthians 2:10 tells us to “Let the Holy Spirit lead you into the deep things of God. “

The political system of the USA is usually defined as an indirect democracy which means that people express their will and rule the country through the representatives they elect. Created by Britain, Canada is a constitutional monarchy. Canada as a one of 16 countries which constitute a Commonwealth Realm and recognize Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom as their Queen. A constitutional monarchy is defined as a form of government headed by a hereditary or elected monarch as head of state established under a constitutional system. The USA has chosen another type of development and proclaimed a presidential republic.
Though there are some concepts copied by Canada from the USA, such as a written constitution for example. Both countries stand on the constituently way of development. Both Canada and the USA have a federal system of government. Federalism is a form of government where by the constitutional right the power is divided between the national and local governments. In Canada sub-units are called provinces or territories and in the United States they are called states.
In the USA there are 50 state governments and the government the District of Columbia which is defined as an administrative district of the USA. The power is shared between state governments and the United States Federal Government according to the principle of dual sovereignty. According to the 10 Amendment to the Constitution all powers not granted to the federal government by the constitution belong to the state governments.
Canada is a decentralized federation of 10 provinces and 3 territories, governed as a constitutional monarchy and formed in 1867 through an act of Confederation. It’s generally considered that Canadian government is more decentralized as it’s one of the only countries of the world where the combined budgets of the provinces exceed the budget of federal government. Local governments are also responsible for the health care, welfare and education.
Both the USA and Canada have the state power divided among three brunches – the legislative branch, the executive branch and the judicial brunch. But here the differences follow. In the US the executive branch is headed by the President who is also the head of the country. The main function of the executive branch is administrating the lows in all levels. The president forms the cabinet of ministers and appoints the head of agencies and departments. In Canada Queen Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada is the repository of executive power. But the Queen doesn’t stay in Canada herself and the governor general acts by her name. The governor general is usually appointed according to the advice of the Prime Minster and is agreed by the Queen.
The leader of the political party which wins the most seats in the House of Commons and forms the majority of government becomes the Prime Minster. So, in the USA the President is the head of the executive branch and in Canada the Prime Minister is the head of the country and shares his function with the parliament.
The legislative branch in the USA is represented by the Congress which consists of two parts – the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate consists of 100 senators. Two senators from the each state are elected for 6 years through the states elections. The House of Representatives consists of 435 representatives elected for two years through the state election. The number of the representative from each state is decided proportionally depending on the population of the state. The Canadian legislative branch consists of the monarch, the House of Commons and the Senate. The House of Commons is elected from current 308 electoral districts for a five-year period. The members of the Senate are nominated by the Prime Minister. The seats are divided among the provinces. As we can see the model of the legislative branch of Canada was copied almost completely from the British legislative system. The main difference between the Parliaments of the USA and Canada lies in the manner the Senate is formed. It the USA the members of the Senate are elected and in Canada they are appointed by the Prime Minister. This way in Canada we can trace the influence of the executive branch on the legislative one. One more difference lies in the forming the cabinet of ministers and choosing the Prime Minister. In Canada by the convention of responsible government, the Prime Minister and his cabinet are the members of Parliament so they can answer to Parliament for their actions and in the US they form a separate institution and comply with the President of the country and are appointed by him.
The judicial branch in the USA is represented by several levels of federal courts. The main judicial body of the country is the Supreme Court. Nine judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the president and they are appointed for life. The judges of the Lower Federal Courts are also appointed by the President. In Canada the Criminal law if uniform for all the country and is under federal jurisdiction. The Governor General appoints the judges of the Supreme Court on the advice of the Cabinet. The candidates can not be reviewed or argued by the Parliament. As we can see in both countries the balance of the judiciary power is displaced to the side of the executive power. In both countries the judges are appointed by the representatives of the executive power (President in the USA and the Governor General in Canada) and can not be influenced by the legislative branch.
Elections in Canada are organized on a constituency basis. Each of the 308 members of the Canadian House of Commons including the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers, the Speaker and the Leader of opposition are elected to according to the norms of constitution.
